How does your week look like?
From Monday to Thursday, we focus on delivering value to our clients. Depending on the number and size of projects you’re involved in, you might work two days for one client and two days for another, or, for larger projects, be fully dedicated to a single client.
Your work location will vary based on the client’s needs. You’ll have a mix of working onsite with clients and from our office. During your first six months, remote work will be limited—typically one day a week—to ensure proper training, mentoring, and guidance. Once you’re up to speed, this becomes more flexible, but remote work will be capped at two days per week. We strongly believe that collaborating in person with colleagues and clients leads to better outcomes.
Our clients are primarily located in Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane, so occasional travel may be required. This could mean staying in a hotel for 2–3 days, typically once or twice a month.
To strengthen our team culture, we try to dedicate Thursdays or Fridays as CAPE office days. These are opportunities for the entire team to come together, enjoy lunch, align in our weekly team meeting, and wrap up the week with a drink. We love to unwind together, whether it’s heading out for drinks on a Friday, organizing activities like BBQs or escape rooms.
How does your typical day look like?
Our workday aligns with our clients’ schedules, offering flexible start times between 07:00 and 09:00. Currently, we typically start at 09:00, but this may vary depending on client activities.
Our office is well-equipped with bike storage and shower facilities, making it easy to exercise before or after work.
We kick off the day with a fresh coffee from our office barista before settling in at our WeWork co-working desks. We usually sit together at one of the large tables to collaborate. Then, we join our daily stand-ups with clients to discuss priorities and tasks for the day.
Throughout the day, you’ll be developing custom software using Mendix as part of your project team. You’ll work closely with your mentor and client, participating in sprint rituals, planning sessions, testing, and requirement-gathering meetings. Typically, 50% of your time is dedicated to hands-on development, while the rest involves client meetings and collaboration.
For lunch, we head out together. Some colleagues bring their own lunch, while others explore the great food options nearby. Whether you prefer sitting outside, eating indoors, taking a walk, or even going for a run, it’s entirely up to you.
In the afternoon, we continue with a mix of meetings and development time. When working onsite with clients, this often involves requirement discussions, design sessions, and testing workshops. On Thursday or Fridays it could happen that we end up in a pub or at the Opera bar for a drink in the sun.
